Small-town life, humorous and genuinely human.

"Nobody's Fool" is a treasure for those who love to dive into the lives of quirky, all-too-human characters in an intimate community setting, much like peeking over the fence of a neighbor's yard. Russo masterfully crafts a tale around Sully—a lovable rogue with a limp in both his knee and life's progress. It's touching, it's wry, and it'll probably feel like visiting a hometown you never had, rooting for a friend who can't quite get it right. If you enjoy rich character development woven with wit, then stepping into the shoes of Sully's imperfect world might just feel like coming home.

Description

It is Thanksgiving in North Bath and Sully, old Miss Beryl's feckless lodger, does not have much to be thankful for. His arthritic knee is acting up and so is his truck; his ex-wife is at the end of her tether, his mistress is giving him the cold shoulder, and the grinning ghost of his father won't leave him alone. The future looks bleak when Sully's son Peter, a morose college professor, returns, offering Sully a chance to address a lifetime of neglected responsibilities and threatening his carefree existence.
