Description

The history of modern Germany is a study in national suicide. The enormous prestige won by the Germans, especially in scholarship and music, literature and philosophy, was deliberately destroyed by the Germans themselves. Now that Germany is once again bound to the Western World, we cannot help asking why this suicide took place. Hans Kohn, who has spent a lifetime studying the manifestations of nationalism believes that the responsibility for the disaster must be borne by those Germans who rejected the humanitarian traditions of Western Europe.
