By its very nature, the discipline of philosophy does not give itself easily to precise dictionary definitions and the bias of this book is therefore towards explaining terminology. With this point in mind Dr Lacey takes some of the most common terms and notions and clarifies what they mean to the philosopher and what sort of problems the philosopher finds associated with them. The emphasis is on bringing out the general flavour and importance of terms rather than giving over-precise definitions which may mislead.
