Jose Y. Dalisay Jr. has published twelve books of fiction and non-fiction, for which he has received various distinctions including, the Palanca, Hawthorden Castle, Rockefeller, David TK Wong, and Premio Cervera di Roma prizes and fellowships. He teaches English and creative writing at the University of the Philippines. Except for the last three, these stories have been selected from his three short story collections: Oldtimer and Other Stories (Asphodel, 1984); Sarcophagus and Other Stories (UP Press, 1992); and Penmanship and Other Stories (Cacho, 1995).
